I spent Mother's Day in bed

Writer: Abby GarrisonAbby Garrison

For some reason, I get sick every year on my birthday and Thanksgiving. This year, Mother's Day got added to the mix.

I have a doctor's appointment in about an hour, but wanted to get this written down while I drink my morning Mud Water.

I started yesterday with breakfast in bed, a handheld PacMan game and a t-shirt that completely fits my kids (I raise little dinosaurs with a picture of a chicken - my kids are obsessed with dinos and chickens so it was perfect!!) And then it was just a time of rest. Watching Spiderman with the kids and enjoying lots of tea to battle the sore throats.

It was quiet.

It was calm.

It was rest.

I did do one load of laundry and a few dishes, but it was a simple day.

As we start our series of finding and cultivating intentional rest today - I want to remind you to take the time you need to rest. You will get sick. You will have bad days. And that is okay. Take the time you need to rest and get better - then get back to your list. Don't feel bad for the day spent in bed or the laundry piling up. It is okay.

Give yourself grace. And find that moment of rest today.

And if you are like me and about to have your little ones home a lot this summer - I compiled an activity book for my kids and wanted to share it with you too. It's designed for 3-6 year olds and has a bunch of fun activities, coloring pages, and kindergarten readiness activities. My sister is a kindergarten teacher and helped me go through to make sure there was good resources included. Have an amazing Monday.

Love and sparkles,

Abby
